Watch: Lyocell vs Viscose — Process Comparison
Lyocell and viscose start from the same raw material — wood pulp — and end up as very different fibres. Viscose is made in an open-loop process using carbon disulfide, which can leave sulfur residue on the finished fibre; lyocell is made in a closed loop that recovers 99.8% of its solvent, with no sulfur anywhere in the process. This 22-second video shows what that means for the towel that touches your face.
